Anger.

Not because of your messy day, not because of the hectic schedule.

The right anger.

When you know your anger is justified, unlike the acts of the one across you.

When you know you are right. When you know you are not over-acting.

But, you can't scream,

You can't question,

Because you promised yourself to be kind always.

You promised never to lose your temper and spoil someone's day.

Because you know how pricky words can be, how painful their sting can be, and how deep their wounds can be.

The moment your senses hear it or see it,

When your eyes widen at the surprise of events unfolding in front of you

The temper rises almost immediately like propulsion, and you can feel the heat rise from the depth of your heart to the tip of your head.

But you have to push it in.

The angry words, the reasonable justification, the hasty replies,

All that you could do to hurt the one who angered you.

You have to push it in.

It is all thrust back to its source, and the pressure builds up inside.

With not enough space to contain, it erupts through the only way out.

Tears well up the eyes.

You don't weep; just let the eyes glitter.

And that's enough to smother the anger that had risen.

You have successfully swallowed your wrath.

You have proved to be stronger than the one across you who didn't have the strength to contain mere words.

And now comes the next challenge, to endure, to look like a weak fool.

The one across you misunderstands the tears and control for weakness.

They assume a triumph for having scared you.

For having let venomous words affect you.

But you know where you stand.

You have performed better than the one across you.

You have proved to be better than just human.

And, that is what you earn after all this.

The satisfaction of having been better.
